RCA Series are a low-cost connector for use with screened-shielded cables interconnecting domentic Audio and TV equipment. While basically an audio-connector and, while used for video and other signals, are not a true RF coaxial connector. They have been widely adopted by low-end TV and Audio equipmenmt being used for domestic TV video recorders, set-top boxes and ancillarty equipments.
As a low-cost low mating-life connector for screened signal an small coaxial cable they deemed suitable for use at frequencies up to 200MHz. In high-end audio a range of higher quality connectors and cable assemblies are available.
Adaptors to other coaxial connectrs are often deployed where better mating life is required or connection to larger lower-loss feeder cables is needed.
