The GX series is a robust LOW-COST metal-clad family of circular multipole threaded-coupling connectors with phenolic (bakelite) insulation, machined pin-contacts and pressed-formed female contacts. GX-series are sometimes referred to as "Aviation Connectors", are typically used for industrial and some audio & professional equipment to handle signals & medium-low currents (4 to 25 Amps) and voltages (125~500Vac). Performance is related to mating-life conditions and contact plating etc.

History - This family of connectors seems to be based upon the Japanese NTT standard as in the TMW range of legacy Japanese professional connectors made by Tajimi (Rx or TMW series) and Hirose (HS series) and widely adopted by professional telephone and broadcasing equipment and instrumentation manufacturers. We do carry some of these Tajimi connectors in stock. Apparently, some of this range is made by Nanaboshi (NCS seroes) in Japan.

The GX16 connects are intermateable with a similar 'professional' line of light-weight aluminum body metal-clad connectors with a metal-schroud over the bakelite projection and better grip for engagement & disengagement.

Sizes: Body-sizes range from 12 to 30mm are defined from the coupling/mounting thead size in mm (GX16 = 16mm 5/8").

Plating: The default finishes are nickel-plated body & contacts, however, silver & gold variants can be supplied for more critical applications and/or environments whjere additional costs/performance are justified..

IP Rating: The standard design (IP55) is not water-proofed, however, moisture/weather proofed options may be supplied in some sizes.

Mating Life: Makers generally claim these connecors are serviceable up too 500 matings, however, choice of contact-plating and operational environment and other conditions will effect the achievable mating life.
