Ribbon (flat-cable) cables are typically flat-profiled flexible un-screened parallel-arranged conductors, or twisted pairs, suitable for use with insulation-displacement multipole connectors especially designed for mass-termination. Such cables are commonly insulated with grey-PVC with a coloured-stripe identifying the 1st conductor. Woven-cables are a flat-cable variant where individual conductors are stitched together into a flexible flat profile. Multi-coloured conductors and other variants provide for individual-conductor identification where break-out etc. benefits from such added facility. Screening may be provided by overall-brading generally covered with a plastic jacket.
